The 1st Greater Pearl River Delta Conference ON Building Operation and Maintenance

Sustainable and Value-for-Money Built Facilities

This is the first ever conference focusing on building operation and maintenance in the Greater Pearl River Delta (GPRD) Region organized by the Building Services Operation and Maintenance Executives Society (BSOMES), with the Macau Professional Association of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (APEMEM), the Thermal Energy and Power
Engineering, School of Mechanical and Automotive Engineering and the Industrial and Civil HVAC Energy Conservation Research Center of the South China University of Technology (SCUT), and the Department of Building Services Engineering of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) being the co-organisers. The main theme of the Conference is “Sustainable and Value-for-Money Built Facilities”, which embraces the following subthemes:

  • Reliable installations & safety systems
  • Services operation & maintenance
  • Energy management & facilities economics
  • Regulatory controls & revitalization of facilities

The Organizing Committee of the Conference is cordially inviting academics, researchers, professionals and government officials to submit abstracts of papers on the above themes by 30th April 2010.

Authors of the shortlisted papers will make their presentations during the Conference. Keynote speeches, to be delivered by the Director of Electrical and Mechanical Services of HKSAR and representatives of the organizer/co-organizers, will also form an essential part of the Conference. Attendees, expected to be those working at the tactical and management levels of organisations in the private and public sectors, will include government officers, consultants, contractors, engineers, facility/property managers, technical managers and the like who are responsible for design, construction, commissioning, operation, maintenance and management of built facilities.

The abstract of each paper, type-written on one A4 sheet, shall begin with the paper title, followed by the name(s), position(s), affiliated organization(s), address(es) and email(s) of the author(s), including an indication for the corresponding author. The abstract length is limited to 250 words for its text, plus at most five keywords. Submitted abstracts will be reviewed by the Conference’s Technical Committee, which comprises scholarly academics,
researchers and specialists in the GPRD region.
Upon acceptance of an abstract, the corresponding author will be informed by 31st May 2010 about the format for the full paper, which shall be confined to 10 pages and submitted by 31st August 2010. Accepted papers will be published in the Conference proceedings. All submissions, which must be original and have not been published elsewhere, shall be emailed to: bepersia@poly.edu.hk.

Notification of acceptance: 31st May 2010
Camera-ready papers due: 31st August 2010
