8月29日遊行悼念馬尼拉脅持人質事件遇害者
致工程界朋友： 8月23日，是香港人最悲傷的日子。香港旅行團在菲律賓馬尼拉被槍手挾持，經歷10多小時，最終流血收場，8名港人被槍殺，本人及工程界均對事件深感悲痛。本人聯同工程界社促會高級副主席嚴建平工程師及多位工程師，於今天前往禮頓山社區會堂簽署弔唁冊，悼念事件中遇難的港人。 此外，通過「工程界社促會」的安排，本人特此呼籲工程界朋友及親友們參與本星期日8月29日由立法會多個黨派發起的遊行，為哀悼事件中的死難者，並要求菲律賓政府徹查事件，交代真相，為遇害者討回公道。遊行於當天下午3時開始，由維園出發，遊行至中環遮打花園。參與人士請穿著黑色或白色的衣服。 集合時間：下午2:15時 集合地點：銅鑼灣記利佐治街１號金百利地下（即香港工程師學會會址地下） 聯絡人：工程界社促會高級副主席嚴建平工程師 (電：9831 1542) 如對上述事項有任何查詢，請致電9831 1542 / 2901 0848 / 2901 0898與工程界社促 會高級副主席嚴建平工程師 / 工程界社促會秘書處聯絡。 何鍾泰敬上 2010年8月27日

「四川七一映秀中學 ─ 港人愛心獻師生籌款活動」
四川汶川大地震至今兩周年，當日的地震造成嚴重傷亡，死亡及失蹤達八萬多人。在震央的汶川映秀鎮，更有四分之三的村民罹難，只剩下大約四千人劫後餘生。然而在政府及各界人士的協助下，村民亦決定留守家園，原址重建映秀鎮。其中的七一映秀中學由於位于地震中央，數十名師生不幸遇難。地震發生後，映秀中學全體師生員工團結一心、積極開展抗震自救工作。現時，在社會各界的支持和援助下，已經度過了最為困難的時期。新的映秀中學由中央組織部捐款特殊黨費修建。新校舍佔地面積33000平方米，學生1380名，教師133名。為幫助學生更快投入校園生活，特此舉行是次籌款活動。每人只需捐出$150 就能資助一位映秀中學學生添置新校服。籌款目標為港幣75,000元。有意者請填妥捐款表格，連同入數紙於7月31日前寄回 “新界葵涌健康街2-6號飛亞工業中心9/F 909室”。支票抬頭請寫 “Environmental Technologies Foundation Ltd.” (上海商業銀行戶口號碼: 025-335-24-057881)，並在支票背面註明 “四川七一映秀中學籌款活動”。籌集款項將全數送到四川七一映秀中學。如有任何疑問，歡迎致電到2690 3899或電郵至 info@cpdc.hk 向蔡小姐查詢。請各位多多支持!建造及工程專業發展中心(CPDC)2010年6月22日

上水河上鄉路交通意外
Hong Kong City and Engineering Safety Concern Group 香港城市及工程安全關注小組 Ref: Y10-HKURC-A015日期: 2010 年1 月22 日 因為一名司機的魯莽行為，令一個團聚了僅4 個月的新移民家庭從此陰陽相隔。一對母子本月19 日在上水河上鄉路橫過馬路時慘被一輛懷疑超速的貨車撞倒，母親送院後證實不治，而兒子則受重傷，一度需要深切治療。事件顯示本港市民的道路安全意識仍有待改善，亦令人再一次關注駕駛者的駕駛態度及其他道路使用者的安全問題。 事發時正值幼稚園放學，該對母子準備橫過馬路時，一輛貨車懷疑收掣不及將他們撞倒，警方表示現場並非交通黑點，而以貨車留下一條約50 米的煞車胎痕推算，事發時貨車時速可能高達80 至100 公里，遠高於路段50 公里的車速限制。另一個可能引致意外的原因是當時幼稚園門外停泊了一輛校巴，令母子及貨車的視線受阻，很多時候司機為免阻塞交通或要避車，會將車輛駛上行人路，但這樣做會令其他司機無法得知行人路的狀況，當發現有行人走出來時已經太遲。而且泊在行人路上的車輛往往會霸佔了大半條路，令行人不得不走出馬路以繞過車輛，大大增加了意外的機會。 駕駛汽車就好像操作著一件危險的武器在街上行走，不當地利用時，除了司機本身可能會受傷外，乘客及途人往往會無辜受牽連，輕則撞傷骨折，嚴重者更會死亡！傷者身體上的創傷可以康復，但精神、心靈上的創傷卻可能一世都無法痊癒；事件中兒子被撞至盆骨碎裂，更傷及內臟，可能會有後遺症，甚至影響將來發育，對只有4 歲的他來說，實在是太殘忍。當日一場意外，就令一個家庭失去了一位賢妻、一位良母；一個幸福美滿的家庭從此不再圓滿，各位駕駛者又於心何忍呢。而且造成殺人交通事故要負上刑事責任，停牌、牢獄之苦等不在話下，還要面對死者家屬的民事索償，前途盡毀加上良知的責備，實在不值得以身試法。 雖然共用管道有眾多好處，但同時亦有一些技術問題需要處理。共用管道有它固定的空間和容量，一旦建成，將來要再擴充會有困難，要對城市發展及管綫需求量進行長達五十年或以上的預測是十分困難的事，為共用管道的建造添加難度，因此在初期規劃的時候要非常小心。 根據警務處資料，本港去年共發生14078 宗大小交通意外，其中122 宗為致命交通意外，合共導致136 人死亡。意外數字為近10 年來最少，並且有逐步下降的趨勢，反映市民的道路安全意識開始提高。但隨著科技的發展，汽車的馬力愈來愈大，設備愈來愈先進，部份駕駛者的駕駛態度似乎未能跟隨，他們往往為了快幾分鐘到達目的地而忽略安全的重要性，超速駕駛、衝燈等行為屢見不鮮。過往更曾經有小巴公然“賽車＂造成嚴重交通意外，亦有司機莽顧行人安全，在行人路上行駛，這些行徑實在令人髮指。 <p style="text-align: ...
